Doug: Okay. Welcome back, listeners. I am more excited today, I think more than I’ve been in a long time. We’ve got a really, super-cool guest, someone who has executed well in social media. I’ve got Chocolate Johnny. Now, he is a third-generation chocolatier, and a businessman hailing from Sydney, and he was a very early adopter in the online world. He is constantly keeping up with the latest trends and developments in social media, and knows how to convert social media into business success and sales.

During the past eight years, he’s used social media to take the Chocolate Johnny brand global. His boutique shop in Sydney is now a big, international social media dominator. Johnny’s a big fan of live video, where he can be found talking about chocolate on social media, and you have to tune in and follow him on Periscope, Facebook Live, and Snapchat.

Using social media as a networking tool has been very powerful. Johnny loves to do interviews with his followers and then profiles them on his social media channels. He’s realized that he’s making a huge impact on the lives of his followers and businesses when one influencer told him that their followers had advised her to go see him and eat his chocolate when they came to Australia.

Chocolate Johnny started out on Facebook and in Instagram, but his real success came with Snapchat and Periscope. He now has thousands of followers and interacts from 5,000 … Or 55 countries. 5,000 … 55 countries on Snapchat and Periscope accounts. So, I would like to welcome Chocolate Johnny to the Real Marketing podcast today.

Johnny: G’day, Doug. How are you mate? Thank you so much for getting me on here, and g’day to everyone listening down there, or up there, cause I’m Down Under.

Doug: Well, so excited. I mean, I’m looking at your website, and you’re obviously a successful chocolatier, and run a retail store. And on the front page, you’ve got a really unusual picture, and that’s a picture of you in front of a poster from Social Media World. So, why don’t you just start out and tell us a little bit about your story? You’ve done some amazing things with social media, and the most amazing thing is you’ve figured out how to use that as a tool to communicate your brand and increase your followers and generate sales.

Johnny: Yeah, no. You know what? Let me do it when I do my live-streaming. Everyone knows I’ve got that trademark now of … So, I start off like this.
G’day, g’day everyone. This is Chocolate Johnny, and we are live (even though we’re on a podcast with Dave … With Doug. Sorry) G’day, g’day everyone. This is Chocolate Johnny. We are live at Perfection Chocolates and Sweets. I’m a third-generation chocolatier. That’s right. We started back in 1939. I look bloody good for 77 years, mate. It’s all the chocolate that I’m eating.  I am the CEO. That’s correct, the Chocolate-Eating Officer, and I’ve gotta tell you, we love making chocolates and sweets for everyone. And through the power of social media, my business has become a global brand, and with social media, I’m also a global brand, Chocolate Johnny, helping, and advising, and speaking around the world with thousands of people and helping them as much as I can.
So, yeah. That’s basically it, mate. You know?

Doug: Well, and like we talked about, now you’re getting all these requests. So, you’re really an international speaker and trainer as someone who has built your business to a level of success where people are looking and wanting to emulate and learn to figure out what it is that you’ve done.

Johnny: Yeah, it’s such a … You know what, mate? You finally put the hard yards in, and everyone says, “Oh, it takes so long. It takes …” No, if you just go and keep going at it, keep going at it. So, I thought I’d just keep going at it. I’m an early adopter. And the next thing you know, the penny drops, and you start getting requests, and people start looking at you and saying, “God, how did he do it?” And it’s such an honor and a pleasure to go and advise people and help them.

And they go, “How can I be like you?” And the first thing I’ve said, “Don’t be like me. Be like you. Do it your way because …” [inaudible 00:04:10] and I sit them down, and I say one thing, “Push the ‘start broadcast’ button. Push the ‘live’ button. Push the ‘video’ button. You have a story, and we need to hear it. You have [inaudible 00:04:24] followers, we all have no hearts, we all have no one, nothing, not watching us. Push that ‘start broadcast’ button. Someone’s gonna watch you. Someone’s gonna listen. You have a story, and the people need to hear it.”  And like, “Oh my God. Thank you so much.” And it’s so true, Doug, that you don’t … Don’t do what Chocolate Johnny does, don’t do what Doug does, don’t do what the other guys do. Look at us. Don’t copy us, but get advice from us by watching us. So, yeah.

I mean, I’m really humbled by … Just … I love it. I love speaking on stage. That’s … You were talking about the Social Media Marketing World photo. That’s one of my proudest moments. Cause I’m a big believer of visualizing and manifesting, and for years, that’s all I’ve wanted to do. And now I’ve got that, I want to go to the next thing. So, yeah. Interesting.

Doug: Well, that’s a major accomplishment. That’s a big deal.

Johnny: Yeah. I … Like I said to you before, I sort of play it down, and …
Is that me or you?

Doug: Not me.

Johnny: Yeah.

Doug: Don’t worry about it. We’ll just –

Johnny: Okay. Sorry, I heard a ringing. Yeah, so I know. It is. It’s definitely an honor to be asked by Michael Stelzner, “Would you like to talk at Social Media Marketing World?”  And I went, “Yeah. I would love it.” And once I got onto that stage, I thought, “Wow, this is just crazy.” I stood in front of these people thinking, “Oh my God, I’m actually here. The Chocolate Johnny from Down Under in a little chocolate shop has now become a global brand speaking on stage. So, it was such an honor, mate. It was just absolutely amazing.

Doug: Well, I think the biggest advantage is, at least from what I see, is that you’re living your truth. So, like you said, you started with no followers. You got in there, you sucked it up, pushed the “start” button, and then you consistently produced content, and built an audience, and refined as you went. And often, speakers are speaking academically, but there’s nothing better than hearing someone’s story who’s actually done it, not just read about it, but has gone out there and done the work.

Johnny: Yeah, that’s … I’m glad you said that, cause I’m a practitioner. So, I’ve done the hard yards, mate. Like you said, I pushed that “start” button. On Snapchat, I had no followers. On Instagram … You know the funny thing? On Instagram, my Perfection Chocolates … I’ve been doing it since day one. It’s only got 2,800 followers, but the way I do it, the way I teach people, the way I’m passionate about it, and love spreading that passion to other people, I can show you half a million views on some of my videos. 60,000, 70,000.

And then, people say, “Oh, yeah. Whoop-dee-do.” But out of those half a million, I’ve got 3,000 dollars in sales. For a little chocolate shop, that’s enough. So, when people … People will say, “Oh, but this guy’s made a million.” Hey guys, we’re just the average Joe Blow. There’s big guys out there, and you can get there one day, but we all have to start somewhere. Start slow. If you get a 50-dollar sale, it’s bloody 50 dollars more than you had before. Accept it, embrace it, thank the universe, and say, “Great. If I can get 50, I can get 5,000 one day.” So, just relax, take a deep breath, and go and do it.

Doug: Well, you brought up and interesting point because people will go, “Oh, well. You know? You only …” Like you said, 50 dollars. I’m gonna have to remember this next time I’m at an event that’s social media related, and I’m gonna have to ask that question. So, I’m gonna borrow your idea here. And that is, how many people here have generated 50 dollars in sales from social media? Stand up. And I think that there would be a lot of people still sitting.

Johnny: Yep. Exactly.

Doug: So, you’re right. It’s a big deal to get your first sale, and figure out how you got that, and then how to amplify that, and to grow it.

Johnny: And the other thing, too … I’m glad you’re saying that. The other thing, too, is your followers. I read an article last year in December, and it’s the predictions, what I think … My thing is, it’s the year of C’s: community, collaboration, connecting, communication. That’s all based … Because everything’s now niched down to your small, micro-influencer.

Guys, embrace the people who are following you whether you’re ten or 10,000. These people are the ones who are gonna buy off you, they’re gonna love you, they’re gonna trust you, you build the relationship, you build the trust, you build your bloody business, get it … Stop reversing it. It’s reverse-engineered. Relationship, trust, business, thank you very much.

Doug: There you go. Well, thanks for joining me today. No.  No, that’s enough, you guys. If you do that, you’ll have a lot more success in your business. I had heard someone talk about doing stuff that’s not scalable, and everyone like to scale. And if you’ve got ten, 20, 30, 40, 50 people on social media, you can actually talk to them. You can actually … Instead of sending a post out, you can actually send them a DM on Instagram and say, “I appreciate you’re following me. Why are you following me?” And ask them questions, and start to have a dialogue.

So, that would actually give you a chance to start and talk to people. I mean, when you have 300,000 people following you, and you do half a million visitors or people viewing your video, it gets a bit tough to interact with them, but there’s definitely an opportunity there to be able to reach out and to communicate with people if you have a smaller audience and you’re starting.

So, having you look at your website and what you’ve built over the last little bit. I wanted to move on and maybe ask you for a little bit of feedback. You said there that one of your breakthroughs was with Snapchat and Periscope video as well as YouTube. And so, just would like you to fill in the blanks and give me a little bit of detail on how you made that work.

Tune back in here. So, I wanted to ask you about your comment when we first started and had the discussion. That was … You said it really took off when you started using Snapchat and Periscope. So, do you wanna share what that experience was like, and why do you think that was a big win for you?

Johnny: Well, I mean, I started even before that. You know? I built my website, Facebook came along, I got my name on Facebook John [inaudible 00:11:20], that’s for personal. Then, all of a sudden, I could do a business page. And I went, “Oh, wow. This is good.” I could do a little video … In fact, I had a YouTube channel ten years ago, Doug. I started it ten years ago.

Doug: Wow.

Johnny: One of my … I’m proud to say one of my videos has 35,000 views. Now, unfortunately, I didn’t keep going and keep going. So, that’s why I learned my lesson on YouTube. So, if anyone’s listening, guys, please don’t give up straight away. Do not give up. Keep going, keep going, keep going. Then, once you realize if it doesn’t work, then give it away.

So, we went, then, to Facebook. And then, all of a sudden, Snapchat came, Instagram came, and Twitter, and a whole lot of other things. So, I got on early on then. But I fell in love with Snapchat because I could just send a photo of chocolate, and it’d be gone, [inaudible 00:12:22]. Same with Instagram. You can take a beautiful photo of your chocolate.

Then, Meerkat came. I had Meerkat and Periscope. On 26th of March, I downloaded both. On the first of April, I pushed the button for … Meerkat didn’t work, but I’ll try Periscope. Once I tried Periscope, it was crazy. The … I couldn’t believe it. I pushed this button. People are talking to me. “What? Oh, hi. Yeah, yeah. What’s your name?” And then, we would talk. “Chocolate Johnny?” They’re asking the questions. I’m at the beach going, “Oh, hi.” Then, other people were coming, and I thought, “Oh my God, I’ve got like a show here.”

Anyway, I kept on doing it. Little did I know that 2,000 followers later, traveling the world, selling … Okay. You know what? Then, you get the [inaudible 00:13:28]. You get the people who say, “Ah, you can’t sell. What’s your return on investment?” And, “Ah, you should be making thousands of dollars.” Man, I’m a little chocolate shop. There’s a little hairdresser, there’s a butcher, there’s a candlestick maker, there’s a florist, there’s a fitness instructor, there’s a bookstore, there’s a café out there in this world right now who are gonna get on live-streaming, and they’re not gonna make millions and billions of dollars, but they’re gonna make a few thousand extra, a few hundred extra. It’s gonna … A few hundred extra they never had.

If you think like that, then the money will come. There’s an abundance of money for everyone. Anyway, I kept on doing it, and kept on doing it. The next thing you know, I had a couple [inaudible 00:14:09], what a waste of time, stop … I proved them wrong.

I have this thing called a freckle. It’s a big, round disk with freckles, hundreds of thousands of them. You know? In America, they call ’em sparkles, or whatever. And I wrote on it, “G’day.” And I said, “Hey, guys. It’s Chocolate Johnny. I’m live on Periscope. I’ve got ten of these freckles. I can’t get rid of them. I wanna sell them to you.” I was being honest then. I said, “I’m here to sell right now. I’m selling to you. If you don’t like it, push the button and go. Come back tomorrow when [crosstalk 00:14:41] you see … By sunrise or sunset.” Anyway, I closed it off. I said to ’em, “It’s 20 dollars, 16 dollars for you. I’ll ship ’em anywhere, blah, blah, blah. Here’s my email. Tell me that you want them Pay the PayPal.” Well, I sold ten in three minutes at 16 dollars, 160 dollars.

Doug: Well, how else would you do that if you’re a local business? I mean, if you’re gonna run an ad with your local newspaper, you need to phone the rep, the rep comes in, design your ad, wait for your ad to run, run the ad. If you do Yellow pages … Even if you do radio, there’s no other media that you can instantly push a button, and within seconds, be talking to a potential customer, and generating, and converting a sale.

Johnny: Exactly. I mean, people don’t … My advice … When I mentor and advise businesses, I tell ’em, “Don’t go and sell straight away. Do a question and answer. Get on there, say ‘Hi, my name’s Doug. My name’s Susan. My name’s Mary. I’m the local butcher, and can I ask you a question about meat. I’d love to help you. You want me to teach you how to cut, how to barbecue it properly? Come on down!'”

And people were going, “Oh my God. I’m having a barbie. Oh, that’s fantastic. This guy’s teaching us how … ”
“Oh, g’day everyone. I’m a florist, and these are the flowers that are in-season. This is your best buy at the moment.”

“I’m mentoring and helping a funeral director. Yes, a funeral director. Do you know what we’re doing on YouTube? He’s gonna do a series on YouTube. He’s called himself the Happiest Funeral Director. You know what he’s gonna do? He’s gonna teach you how to write a proper eulogy. You know? Unfortunately, we have to face death, family, and stuff like that. When we’re tragically in that situation, we don’t have head space, but he’s prepared to sit down and teach you how to do a eulogy. Then. The other thing he’s gonna teach you is how to look for [inaudible 00:16:36] funeral director. And he’s not promoting himself. He’s just saying, “This is what you need to look for.”

And people were saying, “Oh, no one can do … Not everyone …” Everyone can use social media. Here’s this guy who’s … He’ll turn around to make you feel better in a time of crisis of your life. There, but –

Doug: That’s amazing. That takes the excuse away from, “It won’t work for my business.”

Johnny: Exactly. And you know what? Those people out there who … I tell everyone to try everything, and what’ll happen is you’ll slowly get rid of Snapchat, you’ll get rid of musical.ly, you’ll get rid of Twitter. And then, you will niche it down to Instagram and Facebook, or just Facebook, or just Instagram, or just Twitter. Just experiment, [inaudible 00:17:20] around, build a little bit of a community. And then, once you’ve [inaudible 00:17:25], go hard. Go hard. Go hard. You’ll see the benefits, you’ll build a community, you’ll collaborate with people around the world, and oh my gosh. You’re like, [inaudible 00:17:36], I had the best fun on that, and I got a couple of sales, or I got people on my email list, or I got people on my Facebook page, or I got customers coming in, or I’ve got inquiries. So, yeah. [inaudible 00:17:50].

Doug: So, I have one question that comes to mind. Often, when you tell people, “Hey, you should do something live,” or “You should do video,” is messaging. So, what advice would you give people that are saying, “Okay, I’m willing to push the ‘go’ button.”

Johnny: Yep.

Doug: So, you’re saying, “Don’t sell right away,” and I totally agree with you. Don’t sell right away. Give before you ask.

Johnny: Yeah.

Doug: So, what’s a good strategy that you implemented when you started.

Johnny: When I first started, I talked about my business. I talked about my life. I let people come into my life. I walked around where I live, and showed people the beach. I’d show the sunset. If you’re afraid of the camera, turn the camera around so it’s facing what you’re looking at. And talk to me, even if you’re pointing it down to the footpath, “Hey, guys. My name’s Mary, my name’s Susan, my name’s Peter, my name’s Melanie. I’m here in London, and I’m walking along this straight, and there was a red bus, and I wanted to show you the red bus, and …”

And then, once you build your confidence, turn the camera around to yourself, welcome everyone, say, “How are you?” ask people [inaudible 00:18:56], “Where are you from? What are you doing? Who are you? Duh-duh-duh.” Stuff like that. And then, gradually come into your business. “Oh, by the way, this is what I do. I’m a florist. I do meditation. I’m a life coach. I’m a podcaster.” Go behind the scenes of your podcast. Go behind the scenes. Get them to interact with you. And then, eventually, people are gonna say to you … People will ask you, “What do you have to sell?” They will ask you. “How can I buy your online course or that podcast? How can I get you to coach me? How can you teach me how to beat sickness. How can I learn about Instagram? How do you do it?” They ask the question because you’ve built that relationship. You’ve built the trust, and then they say, “I love this person. I like this person. I trust this person. Show me the money. [inaudible 00:19:49] use my credit card.” I’ve had it happen.

Doug: Well, and the great thing about that approach, really, is they’re asking you questions, so it’s not like you’ve gone off in isolation and designed or created a program, and then hope it will sell, and then try and convince people to buy it. You’ve got potential customers that are saying, “hey, help me with this problem.” So, they’re telling you what they’re willing to buy?

Johnny: You know what, mate? I can’t agree with you more. So, I had a girl … Unfortunately, she had a daughter that was killed in a tragic car accident in front of her. Now, I was watching her on Periscope, and here’s the difference. I was watching her, Doug, I hadn’t had the camera. I got on there, and I was talking to her. I was talking away, and I was going, “[Allie 00:20:33], are you okay? What’s wrong?” And she was crying. And she was telling us … And then, a few people came on. We helped that girl, get up, get into a car, and go back home. I don’t know what was gonna happen.

I actually met her in real life, and she gave me the biggest hug, and I’m gonna start get emotional because it was amazing that I could have an impact on that person, but I wasn’t on camera, Doug. I contributed to her. You guys have gotta give that bit as well. You’ve gotta get on there. Another mate of mine … He suffers from depression, and he said if it wasn’t for one of my Periscopes that made him laugh … He says, “You’ve made me piss myself laughing. I’m in a different place right now.”

I said, “What?”

He says, “Chocolate Johnny, it was the funniest scope. You were talking about an egg,” and [inaudible 00:21:24], and I always … In the [inaudible 00:21:28] I pretended my hair’s blowing in the wind. He says, “Oh my God. It was the funniest hat.” And he says …

And that’s what I mean. Contribute as well. So, add to … Get off your face, and get into someone’s Instagram story, get into someone’s Snapchat, get into someone’s Facebook page, or leave a comment, “How are you? I love what you’re doing?” You know? Get into that person’s Periscope or that Live … Make a comment, just one comment. And that person says, “Oh my God. [inaudible 00:22:00] Oh, hi. How are you?” Then, you feel that bond, that connection. We all wanna be loved. We all wanna be loved. And there’s nothing … We hate than rejected.

And it gets hard when I’ve got hundreds of people counting [inaudible 00:22:15], like, “I’m sorry. I’m not at home, everyone, but I love you all, and I wanna give you all a hug,” and I’ll pretend to give ’em a huge. So Yeah. Mate, this world … There’s so much negative now [inaudible 00:22:26], this is just … These are … Social media is social. It’s social, guys. And make an effort to go and meet someone. Get a group of people, and meet them.

Doug: Yep.

Johnny: Like, when I come to Canada, I’m gonna come and see you, mate, because you’ve put me on your podcast. I’ve had MeetUps with 60 people. It’s been the most amazing experience. It’s great.

Doug: Yeah, and I’ve met people as well that I met online. I had an investor group fly over from Germany, and I met them on LinkedIn, and that was our original conversation. So, I agree with you. I think … I tell people that social media doesn’t work, and the reason it doesn’t work is because we’re not social. We’re treating social media as if it a broadcasting –

Johnny: Exactly.

Doug: Platform. And so, I had read a book last year that I really liked, and it was just talking about doing small things every day. So, I kind of set some goals that I would interact on two different platforms, and I would find someone I could leave a genuine compliment on their page, at least five people on one platform, and five on the other. And people go, “Well, that’s not very many.” Well, it is if you do it five days a week, and you do if for a whole year.

Johnny: Yeah, it’s def –

Doug: And what I found was, I get these offline conversations with people, and I had one person, in particular, sent me back this really long response, and at the end of it, she said, “I don’t know why I’m telling you all this stuff, but …” And it’s exactly what you said. There was just something in her life that was … And she just kind of exploded. It was cool to be able … And now, who’s my biggest advocate who’s re-sharing and commenting, and everything that I’ve been.

Johnny: Exactly! And it’s funny. I do this. On my personal page, I hardly do any Lives because I’m worried about what my cousins are gonna say. Anyway, my coach … [inaudible 00:24:09] my coach. I don’t know if you know James. Anyway, he says, “Mate, you’ve gotta get online. You’ve gotta do it, you’ve gotta get on your [inaudible 00:24:18] …” And you know what? I did it. It was the worst … I was No. Cause I was worried about people watching me and my friends, my school friends, and I finally told ’em I’m a social media speaker around the world, and I travel, and they’re like, “Oh, oh! Wouldn’t that …”

There’s … Like you, Doug, I got that one email, that one email. Oh my god. It was heartbreaking, but in the same time, he said, “You changed my life,” and that’s all you need. He’s my biggest advocate as well, just like you. You know? You’ve just gotta … People have got to … We gotta start being a little bit vulnerable. Now, I’m not telling you to go and pour out your heart and tell your life’s story, but be a bit fun or a bit transparent. It doesn’t hurt. In fact, there’s someone there, like you did … You went and complimented someone.

Doug: No. Yeah, I told me –

Johnny: They saw bloody unreal, and they’re like, “Wow, thanks, Doug. You’ve just … Not saved my life, or maybe, or whatever,” but man. You did the right thing. Could I hold back? You should be really proud of that.”

Doug: Well, that might’ve been the only positive compliment they’ve had. We were over in London at a conference called [inaudible 00:25:24] a guy puts on by the name Chris Ducker. And –

Johnny: I know Chris. Yeah, I met Chris, yeah.

Doug: Oh.

Johnny: And Pat Flynn as there.

Doug: Yeah. So, were you in London?

Johnny: No, no. I’ve been to London twice, but I bet Chris … Maybe has stole the hard work that I’ve done. I’ve reached out to him, I’ve spoken to him, and … Same with Pat as well. I’ve done the same with him, so I couldn’t get to London, but yeah. Go on. What were you saying?

Doug: Well, Pat was speaking there, and he talked about when he started his Smart, Passive Income podcast, and how he was ready to give up. He said, “You know, I’m doing this podcast week, after week, after week and I’m not getting much response. And then, he got an email from a guy, and I’m trying to remember where he was. Maybe in Russia or somewhere in eastern Europe, just saying, “Hey, I was in this major accident, and I was in the hospital for months, and months, and months, and your podcast is the only thing that gave me hope.

And Pat went, “Wow! That was his decision to keep going, and what was really special … At our even that we’re there in London this last November was that they flew this guy over there to meet with Pat face-to-face for the first time.

Johnny: Oh, unreal.

Doug: Yeah. So often, like you said, you’re working away, and you’re sharing part of your life, and you’re sharing your business, and you’re cheering people on, and you just really don’t know … Just because not everybody’s interacting with you, who’s sitting back and listening? Cause they’re not maybe at a place where they can or what to engage but they’re just enjoying and being fed by what you’re sharing.

Johnny: Exactly. Celebrate other people’s success, guys. Start celebrating, and acknowledging, and be proud of what someone else has done because it will come back to you ten times.  Oh, no. We’ll see what happens.

Doug: Absolutely. So, let’s keep going here. Let’s ask you, what do you think is some of the worst advice that you hear about people in social media? So, instead of the best advice …So, there’s always people that are gonna tell you, “Do this,” or “Don’t do that.” So, what do you think the worst advice about social media for marketing is these days that you’re hearing?

Johnny: Marketing stuff … Honestly, we’re just bombarded with it so much … The worst … That’s a really good question. I usually get [inaudible 00:27:42] best advice. The worst, I think, is just the sales-y stuff. You know? People have to stop selling. I know. I know we need to just make money and that … But we really need to build that relationship first, and you watch the money just come and flow. The money will easily flow in. So, my … The worst advice is when I hear people, “Oh, no, you’ve gotta get up and sell. And push, and push, and push, and … After a while, people don’t want it. They hate it. It makes them feel uncomfortable. So, yeah. That’s the worst advice I’ve heard.

Doug: Sell, sell, sell. Yeah, I would agree. Yeah. Well, I actually took that question from Tim Ferris’s book. Yeah. Tribe of Mentors. And that was one of the questions that he asked people because there’s obviously …. Everyone’s trying to look to improve, but there’s always one group of people that are pushing you the wrong direction. So, I agree with you. I mean, I don’t log onto social media to get a hard sales message. Actually, I don’t log on anywhere to get a hard sales message.

Johnny: Exactly. You don’t want the sale-y stuff. You want … Like I said, you want that community, you want that collaboration, you want that communication, you want that comfort. That’s why I said it’s all seas this year. That Chocolate Johnny, there you go.

Doug: Well, I mean, look at how we’ve connected. So, I connected with Keith, and I connected with Keith through Twitter, and we began a direct message conversation through Twitter that led to an offline conversation and a podcast, and I said to Keith, “Who’s one guy that I gotta have on my podcast?” And without … Now, that’s normally the toughest question I ask people That stumps them, so I’ll warn you in advance it’s coming.

But I asked him. And right away, he went, “You gotta have Chocolate Johnny on your show. That guy’s absolutely amazing.” And like you said, if I’m ever back soon over in Australia, over in Sydney are, I know where I’ll be going to chocolate, but also for a hung.

Johnny: Yeah. That’s It. Oh, I’m glad you said that because there’s no handshake with me, and I’ve always been like that. When I … Or people at Social Media Marketing World, or other events, people like … [inaudible 00:29:44] And I go, “Come here, and give me a hug.” And they’re like, “Can I ?” It is such a nice feeling getting a hug from someone. So, we should do it more often. But yeah, [inaudible 00:29:58] have very good bloke. I really … I mean, I didn’t realize … He’s got his things going on, and I just helped him once with one of his [inaudible 00:30:07], and he’s a great guy cause he helps people so much. And I’ve got a lot of time and respect for him. I’ve got a lot of time and respect for him.

Doug: Yeah, he absolutely does. So, now I’m gonna ask you the tough question. Who’s one guest that you think I absolutely have to have on my podcast?

Johnny: Well, in my mind, I’m just totally in awe of my coach, [inaudible 00:30:28]. There’s two guys. I really love James [Widmore 00:30:32] because he just knows his stuff, he’s got integrity, he’s intelligent, he’s kind, he’s generous, he’s … And he’s successful. [inaudible 00:30:41] ten years of plugging away, and yeah. He’s a really good bloke. So, I don’t know if you know [Jansen Ore 00:30:47], but –

Doug: I know of him. I follow him, and he’s like everybody else. After ten years of really hard work, he was an instant success.

Johnny: I love it! Yes! Oh, yeah. By the way, I did. I worked hard for a little while, and then, I became an overnight success. Oh, I love that. Say that again. Can you say that again? You weren’t –

Doug: I said after ten years of hard work, you became an instant success.

Johnny: I love it! That’s so good. Yeah, James is good, mate. I’ve met him in real life, and I’ve see him grow over the four years that I’ve watched him and he and … And another bloke that I really like is [Brian Fanto 00:31:23], so I don’t know if you know Brian at all, but Brian’s gonna love it.

Doug: Nope. I … I’m gonna … Bryan, I don’t know. But I will circle back to both these guys.

Johnny: Yeah, and just tell ’em that I … They’re mates of mine. I always call everyone a mate, so Doug, you’re a mate of mine now, so you gotta make it to Sydney, Australia, buddy. But yeah. I love helping others. I love it.

Doug: Well, I did take in some Aussie rules football. I mean, it was quite a while ago. My son and I went to the game. It was the quarterfinals, so we go the hotel to arrange for a car, and we went early, and we didn’t know either of the teams because we were just visiting. And so, we made a bet, and the deal was we each had to pick a team, and whoever lost had to wear that jersey the next day. We’re gonna go on a pub crawl.

Johnny: Mate, you’re [inaudible 00:32:08] a pure Aussie thing. I love it, mate. Oh, my God. That was … Well, I finally figured out the NHL made it, which was a [inaudible 00:32:16], and that was just amazing. So, yeah. You saw the Aussie rules, I saw the NHL.

Doug: Well, what I didn’t know was, as Canadians are a bit more conservative, I didn’t realize that stopped, getting our seats, and showing up with two beer to sit down was a good start until I saw everyone coming with six-packs and 12-packs. Then, I realized that we weren’t really prepared for the game.

Johnny: Yeah, I bet there was a big cue to get a beer at halftime. [inaudible 00:32:40], so everyone just gets ten beers and puts ’em under the seat, and then keeps coming.

Doug: Yeah, that’s what we learned.
